Special Exhibition of Asian Drinking Culture
Date: 2020/01/22-2020/06/21
Venue: Special Exhibits Hall I, Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology, New Taipei City
Alcoholic drinks are closely connected to human lives. They were used in various ceremonies and rituals; literary gatherings and poetry composition were energized with intoxicating beverages; cups of good wine smoothed the atmosphere of our feasts and meals. As good alcoholic drinks require beautiful vessels, people develop various drinking vessels for different occasions of alcohol consumption, culminating in the development of rich material cultures. This exhibition presented drinking vessels of different Asian cultures from the collection of the Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology, of the National Museum of History and of the Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica; we hoped to show you the beauty of drinking vessels from different times and cultures.
