First published in December 1961, the Bulletin of National Museum of History: Historical Artifacts is a very old museum bulletin in Taiwan. Originally, the core purpose of the bulletin was to report about museum services. As the museum focused more on academic development and shifted its role and mission, and as the role of publication grew significant, promoting knowledges about historical artifacts, art and museology gradually became the purpose of the bulletin. It also became an arts and culture publication for the public.

Not only did the National Museum of History act as a window to Taiwanese culture after the war ended, it was also a treasure box that stored collective memory. After the martial law came to an end in 1987, the museum continued to provide an excellent arts and culture platform. The Bulletin of National Museum of History is a mirror of Taiwan’s culture, history, and art. In March 2019, The Bulletin of National Museum of History published its 300th issue after having gone through 57 years. "A Window, a Box, and a Mirror: 300 Issues of the Bulletin of National Museum of History" has been organized specially for this memorable moment. The exhibition displays every issue of The Bulletin of National Museum of History, from the first one to the 300th. They include many moving stories and chapters about Taiwanese arts. They’re also a record of the hardships we’ve endured to cultivate the culture of this land.
