  • The stand was found in Hsincheng, Henan. It dates in the middle of the Spring-and-Autumn period. The shape of the stand is a unique creature, with a big head and small body. Four curly things stretch out from the head. Its huge and round eyes with the expression on the face are fierce. The chest and belly is naked. The creature stands on two serpents curling stiffly underneath his feet, which form a steady base of the stand. The mysterious stand was considered as a stand of furnace, or lantern, or as a tomb guardian. No settled conclusion was made. It nevertheless reveals the unbound imagination of the ancient.
