  • The ewer was found in the village of Hsintien, Linyao, Gansu, dates from 3000 years ago, during the Hsintien Culture of the late Neolithic age. The double hooks are the symbols of Hsintien Culture and may have been transformed from antelope horns. Its surface was shiny and was originally painted with a purple-red coating, which has not survived. The mouth is wide open, and there are handles around the belly. The lower half is narrow. The surface has been coarsely painted with brown lines, belts, clips, suns and birds. The belly is embossed with a rope pattern.
